Hepatitis A outbreak:

A Shaw and Haven Food Services worker was diagnosed with hepatitis A this week. While the situation appears to be contained, no one will know for sure until someone gets chronic diarrhea or jaundice. Good luck, Shaw and Haven residents.

Juice Jam:

University Union succeeded in signing another interesting lineup to the fourth annual Juice Jam. While Ra Ra Riot, the opening act, and Talib Kweli, the co-headliner, are not the most well known of acts, they’re sure to get people lip singing to trendy songs they don’t really know. Even though Bloc Party is a fairly successful independent band, the booths and activities seem to be drawing in more of a crowd. Either way, assuming the sun is out, Sunday should be a blast.

Syracuse Football vs. Northwestern

While no one really expected the Syracuse football team to defeat a Big Ten opponent like Northwestern, 30-10 wasn’t the score experts had in mind. Yes, it was only the first game of the season, but Syracuse football doesn’t look like it will be getting better anytime soon. Despite shortcomings, the Akron and Penn State games will probably still manage to fill up the Dome.

Oh, Sarah Palin;

Let’s leave 17-year-old Bristol Palin alone – she’s got enough on her mind, being a teenager, 5 months pregnant, unmarried and all. While it is tempting to follow politician’s families like they’re the Lohans, try to remember that this is an election, not an episode of Family Feud on crack.

Taking five steps back?

The Harvard University Police Department has been accused of, among other things, racial profiling and harassment. From disrupting a black student organization’s field day, to stopping a black professor on the sidewalk and asking for identification, the Ivy League school doesn’t seem to be doing much in the way of progressiveness. While these accusations are still under investigation, it makes one wonder: What were they thinking?
