Maria Qualtere
I thought that when this day finally came I would be relieved. But looking back on my year at 744, what began as a time-consuming job complete with sleep deprivation, turned into a definitive part of my college experience, complete withlasting friendships, funny memories and amusing chaos. Let’s just say ‘The Office’ has nothing on us. I’ll miss it all.
Lauren and Kyle- ‘We’re the three best friends that anyone could have, and we’ll never, ever, ever, ever, ever leave each other.’
Lauren- There were so many nights I looked forward to 7 p.m. because I knew we could either laugh about our weekends, complain about our week or just sing along to country, and love every second of it. Not only did you make my D.O. experience better, you made my semester better. Never change your crazy ways, and keep the spirit of the porch alive- I know you will.
Kyle- You were a perfect addition to the porch and the best fellow copy editor I could ask for. You completed the best friend circle, constantly put up with Lauren and me, and always knew the perfect to thing to say to prevent our panic attacks or make us laugh. You better visit next year!
Julia- Abroad opinion column, Madrid SITC style, all I’m saying. Thanks for always listening, never judging, and know I’ll always be here to do the same for you. I don’t think our G-chats will be going on the record any time soon.
News section spring ’09- My first D.O. family. Some would say we were dysfunctional, but what family isn’t?
Shayna- By leading by example, you motivated me to become a better writer and become more involved in house. Thanks for showing me how great this place really is.
Conor- I can’t really think of one thing I like about you, nor do I remember one time you’ve really been nice to me, but I guess it’s true we’re more alike than either of us would like to believe. I KNOW you’ll miss me next semester. To be fair, I don’t doubt you and your sadistic ways will whip up a quite a good sports section next semester. See you at the altar.
Bethany- Your dedication to the section and to the quality of the paper is admirable- never underestimate the positive changes you’ve made. Sorry for all the nights I didn’t hand in my stories anywhere near deadline… And don’t forget our master plan for fall 2010.
Jared- We’re still flu-free, so our 8 a.m. journey was clearly a success. You are the reason the sports section was always organized, ran smoothly and had their copy to me at a reasonable hour. Your success will follow you way beyond the D.O. Good luck, and never stop making people smile.
Sports- Sorry about my rants when your section had a lot of stories running. I hope you don’t miss my lovely high-pitched scream too much.
Steph and Meredith- I couldn’t have asked to work under two better people. I look up to you both for what you’ve done for this paper and the staff’s morale. Steph, another Vermont trip is in order next year.
Dockery- FYI- I got all my paychecks this semester.
My friends- Thank you for the nights you left the lights on, unlocked the door when I forgot my key, drove to main campus after I was done working, or left me notes on my mirror and the Disney channel waiting for me. I’ll make up for lost time, I promise.
Larry Seivert- I think it is time to put that not so favorable end-of-the-year review behind us, and move on. But, for all those reading, I would like to go on the record to say that Larry Seivert’s been the best SA president to date. Jon Barnhart, you’ve got some big shoes to fill. Redeemed yet?
