Remembrance Scholar: Marlene Goldenberg
For Remembrance Week, Marlene Goldenberg said she hopes she can bring the passion that Alexia Tsairis, a victim of the attack on Pan Am Flight 103, brought to her day-to-day life.
‘(Her) whole effort to make the world a better place through political activism – that’s what connected me to her,’ she said.
Goldenberg, who is Student Association president, learned about Tsairis through her sorority, Pi Beta Phi. Tsairis was also a member of the sorority when she attended Syracuse University.
‘I did a little research on Julianne (Kelly) and Karen (Hunt), but I found that Tsairis had a passion for global politics that I have,’ said Goldenberg, a Spanish, political philosophy and international relations major.
Goldenberg said she gets nervous about doing Tsairis ‘justice’ as parents come to campus and the time comes to meet her family.
‘You do all this work – but for all the research you do, you just have to hope it’s enough.’
